1) I always wondered what the mystery was about 15 or 18 pins. I started using a 15 needle SWF full size table. Have now switched to a 12 needle Sprint 7 ZSK. occasionally need to change spools, but I also change the 15 needles often. Yes, you can load some colors in the middle that can sit there longer to save time between jobs, but unless you do some rough monster jacket backs with crazy colors, I just don't think it's mastered well enough to do that to justify choosing a particular machine. I'd rather be carefree all the way around than sit there looking at a pile of threads I can't get to sew right. the ZSK has worked really well for me. I'm a very small home furnishings store owner and embroidery is just a sideline to go with t-shirts and other stuff. I was worried about the service since I live in the suburbs. So far there hasn't been any need to use the Sprint machine and have done a surprising amount of sewing for single headers. Millions of stitches. I lost count around 11, apparently there is no average counter. Still sewing like it was yesterday. 2) I bought a used ZSK Sprint 7, 2002, loud, but runs and runs and runs. Stitches like a dream. I have some compact SWF's, but my goal is more ZSK's, easy to maintain, built like tanks. Real work horses. 3) I would find a local dealer and buy a used commercial machine from them. Don't be tempted by the cheap Chinese machines as they suck.
