5.2 Center Back Placement
The placement of designs on the back of a jacket is determined by the size of the designs and the jacket itself. Close the jacket and lay it face down on a worktable. Measure about 3-4"from the seam at the bottom of the collar. To find the center point for the design, add half the height of the design to the measurement obtained in the previous step. Typically, the center point of the design will be located around 8-10” down from the center back collar seam. For children's jackets, the center will generally fall between 5”-8” down from the collar. As a general guideline, it is recommended to maintain a distance of approximately 2.5 inches from the collar to the top of the design. The placement of designs on the back of a jacket is determined by the size of the designs and the jacket itself. First, close the jacket up and put it back-side up on your table. From the bottom of the collar seam, measure it down about 3-4". To find the center of your design, just take half of your design's height and add it to that measurement you just took. Most times, for men's and women's jackets, the middle of your design will be around 8-10" from that collar seam at the back. For kids' jackets, you look at about 5-8" down from the collar, or try to leave around 2.5 inches between the collar and the top of your design as a starting placement point.
